Our projects for this year
Playful workshops
We organize dynamic workshops in English and in Spanish (and soon in other languages as well), where children learn through play. Through stories, songs, games, and crafts, children become familiar with new sounds and vocabulary without pressure or an academic focus.
Thematic workshops
We offer workshops around specific topics that spark curiosity:
Cooking: simple recipes to discover new flavors and words.
Arts: creativity, expression, and visual vocabulary.
Science: experiments adapted for learning through exploration.

Multilingual library
Our library allows families to access books in several languages (Spanish, English, and more), with a flexible lending system.
Online reservations and delivery are available.
Language courses for children
We designed language courses for children where they get to learn:
Cultural traditions
Reading and comprehension
Writing adapted to their level
The goal is to learn through play.

Pequeña Alegría is a living project. Thanks to the ideas, talents, and energy of our volunteers, we continue to develop new initiatives: book clubs, cultural events, educational resources for families, and much more.
We are not creating isolated activities, we are building an ecosystem where children grow up surrounded by languages, culture and curiosity

About us
Our mission: To build communities where every family has its place.
Pequeña Alegría is a non-profit association that organizes playful and sensory workshops to bring Spanish (and other languages in the future) closer to the little ones.
We learn through emotions, play and culture: songs, stories, crafts and shared moments.
Our goal: to spark curiosity, create connections, and celebrate cultural diversity.

WHO WE ARE
We are a cultural association for children and families. A non-profit association, established in France in 1901.
Every family deserves to feel that they belong to a community.
However, many multilingual and displaced families raise their children far from their language, culture, or support network. At the same time, many local families long to discover other cultures but have few opportunities to forge authentic connections.
Pequeña Alegría creates welcoming spaces where families naturally connect through stories, creativity, and play. By bringing people together around everyday experiences, we reduce isolation, celebrate diversity, and help strengthen communities.

Meet the people who run the workshops
We are a group of parents, educators, and language lovers who identified the same gap: there were almost no accessible ways to expose young children to other languages in everyday life. Not in an academic or formal way. Just naturally. Through stories, play, and the simple act of reading together.
So we built what we would have liked to have existed.
Little Joy began as a conversation between four mothers in Toulouse. We decided to create spaces for play and storytelling, seeking to build a community.
Our project is still small. It keeps growing. And that's exactly where the best things begin.

Our community
Multilingual families who wish to preserve their native languages.
Displaced and newly arrived families rebuilding their support networks.
Local families who want their children to grow up with curiosity, an open mind, and a connection to the world.
Volunteers who believe that stronger communities are built through relationships.
Our community integration model
We believe that integration happens through relationships, not just services. Our model creates ongoing opportunities for families from diverse backgrounds to meet, collaborate, and build trust over time. Books, languages, and shared activities become catalysts for lasting social connections.

Our manifesto
We believe that every language holds a story.
We believe that every child should grow up feeling proud of their roots.
We believe that communities are strengthened when families get to know each other.
We believe that books can open spaces for dialogue.
We believe that diversity is something to be lived, not just something to be celebrated.
We believe that integration is achieved through shared moments, not isolated events.
We believe that every family has something valuable to contribute.
Together we are building communities where every family has its place and every language is valued.

Learning science has never been so much fun!
At Pequeña Alegría, children discover the world through experiments, engineering challenges, constructions and games, while practicing English naturally in a bilingual French-English environment.
Each workshop begins with a picture book in English that introduces the day's topic. Afterward, the children experiment, build, and test their ideas to solve a science challenge.
Throughout the year we will explore topics such as magnetism, water, electricity, plants, chemistry, robotics and much more.
At the end of each session, each participant takes home a Little Scientist Challenge , a small mission to continue experimenting at home with their family.

Each month we will explore a new artistic concept through the work of an artist or a cultural tradition, and then bring to life our own creation using different techniques and materials.
Throughout the 10 sessions, children will progressively learn concepts such as lines, shapes, color, textures, patterns, composition, volume, and the expression of emotions in art.
How does a session work?
Each meeting follows a structure designed to maintain curiosity and promote learning:
📚 Reading an illustrated book in English (with accompaniment in French)
🎨 Discovery of an artist, a culture, or an artistic technique
🖌️ Creation of a guided artwork using different materials
🇬🇧 Natural English vocabulary learning related to art and creativity
All materials are included and each child takes their artwork home.

Secret Story Club
What if reading became an adventure to share?
The Secret Story Club is a creative space for boys and girls from 8 years old where books are the starting point to imagine, create and make new friends.
Each participant chooses a book in their preferred language: Spanish, French, English, Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, Italian, or any other language. After reading it at home, they share their story with the group in French, discover each other's stories, and participate in conversations that develop curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence in self-expression.
But the adventure doesn't end there.
In each cycle, the children transform the story that has most inspired them into an original creation. It can become a comic, a stop-motion film, a play, a podcast, an illustrated story, or any other creative project that brings their imagination to life.
Throughout the year, they develop a love of reading, oral expression, creativity, teamwork, and respect for linguistic and cultural diversity, while discovering that each language opens the door to new stories and new friendships.
How does it work?
* 📚 For children ages 8 and up .
* 🌍 Each child reads a book in their chosen language.
* 💬 Conversations and activities are conducted in French .
* 🎨 Each cycle culminates in a creative project inspired by the reading.
* 👥 Small groups to encourage participation and personalized support.
At Pequeña Alegría, we believe that stories travel best when shared. And that every child has a unique story that deserves to be told.

More dancing, less stress
A space to care for those who care.Being a mother or father is a wonderful, but also demanding, experience. Between work, family, responsibilities, and the pace of daily life, it's easy to forget to dedicate time to yourself.
Once a month, we invite you to disconnect from your routine, leave your worries aside and enjoy 90 minutes of movement, music and well-being in a friendly and non-judgmental environment.
The sessions are led by a professional dancer and psychologist, who combines different dance styles with body expression dynamics and conscious movement to promote physical and emotional well-being.
At Pequeña Alegría we believe that caring for children also begins with caring for those who accompany them every day.
Because when parents are doing well, the whole family feels it.
More dancing. Less stress. More well-being for you and your loved ones.

Creative Circle for Moms
A moment for you, to create, connect and feel good.
The Creative Circle for Moms is a monthly gathering designed to offer you a space for well-being, creativity, and friendship. Once a month, we meet to discover a new craft, learn something different, and share a pleasant moment with other women experiencing motherhood in a multicultural environment.
It doesn't matter where you come from or what language you speak. All languages are welcome. At each gathering, Spanish, French, English, and many other languages coexist naturally, creating a warm and inclusive environment where everyone can express themselves freely.
This circle was created to forge authentic connections, share experiences, support each other, and build a network of friendships that makes us all feel supported.
All necessary materials are included.

Family Yoga in English
Give yourself a moment to slow down and enjoy quality time with your family.
Our Family Yoga in English sessions are designed for children aged 4 and up and their families.
Through yoga, movement, mindful breathing, cooperative games, and relaxation exercises, participants develop balance, concentration, confidence, and emotional well-being while strengthening family bonds.
All sessions are conducted entirely in English, guided in a natural and accessible way. Children and adults do not need to speak English beforehand: the language is understood organically through songs, simple instructions, routines, and activities, in a relaxed and pressure-free environment.
The sessions consist of 1 hour of yoga, followed by 15 minutes to share a snack, chat and build connections with other international and multilingual families.
More than a yoga class, it's a space to breathe, connect, grow, and build family memories... in English.
